This device is useful only with systems using Enphase solar microinverters as a basic device for monitoring. This device is mandatory as per manufacturer for claiming warranty on Enphase soalr microinverters. Check datasheet of product for its warranty and specifications. This device can be connected over Wi-FI or LAN. In case of Wifi, strong signal strength required. No seperate communication cable (like RS 485 or CAT6) is required for Envoy-S product as it reads data from all microinverters through Power Line Communication. This device is used apart from monitoring if required for control of the enphase microinverter based solar energy system with additional offer options of monitoring, disabling, metering, zero export and diagnostics for efficiency system operation. This product is usually bought alongwith Enphase solar microinverters unless customer is aware of its use and makes an informed decision based on knowledge of Enphase microinverters or Enphase products based on datasheets to buy seperately. The Enphase Envoy-S Metered™ communications gateway delivers data from Enphase microinverter based solar system for solar energy production and energy parameters apart from system performance parameters. This data is viewed in Enphase Enlighten™ monitoring app, which is downloaded from Enphase website after registration by authorized users. This data also helps in analysis software for comprehensive, remote maintenance and management of the Enphase System. The Data is stored over Enphase Cloud and provided to customer under his view options, and provided for lifetime of Enphase microinverter system.
Additional features of using Enphase Envoy-S metered device need to be enabled, for checking individual system data with production metering and consumption metering / monitoring options. This requires additional CT’s to be fixed, which is offered seperately by Enphase for 3-phase system, while built in for a single-phase system. This also has a feature to enable zero export option in case no power is shared to grid. Another feature of Envoy-S is the platform for total energy management and integrates with the Enphase AC Battery™.
